IP Study Group

The "Japanese Intellectual Property Study Group in Bangkok (Bangkok IPG)" was established in March 2007. The IPG organizes activities and meetings in order to share information on IPR issues and enhance enforcement of IPR.

  1. Purpose
    1. To strengthen member companies' activities against IPR issues, particularly counterfeits and pirated goods, and to reduce their damages.
    2. To promote IPR awareness on Japanese companies in Thailand.
    3. To exchange and share information on IPR issues among Japanese Government and companies.
    4. To make relationship and talk with the Thai government on IPR issues, and to work closely with other (e.g. US, EU) government and private organizations.
  2. Activities
    The following activities are conducted in regular meetings (every two months) as well as extra ordinal meetings.
    1. Exchanging and sharing information on IPR issues among members
    2. Inviting lecturers and exchanging views with non-members
    3. Having talks with Thai Government IPR related bureaus
    4. Other activities
  3. Management
    The steering committee, consisting of 3 companies, makes basic plans for activities.
  4. Members
    Membership is permitted to Japanese companies and government-related organizations. As of 2007, 38 companies & 6 government-related organizations, belong to the IPG.
