About JETRO Bangkok IP Department

Our Services

  1. Conduct research and disseminate evaluation on IPR legislation and its impact on IPR enforcement, e.g. anti-counterfeiting, and publicizing these findings in "Manual of Countermeasures against Infringements."
  2. Support IP Study Group (IPG) which is organized by Japanese companies in each ASEAN and South Asian county.
  3. Provide legal advisory services on IPR in ASEAN and South Asian countries to Japanese companies, as well as legal advisory services on IPR in Japan to ASEAN and South Asian companies.
  4. Organize and support IPR seminars for Japanese, ASEAN and South Asian companies with other associations.

The JETRO Bangkok IP Department has offered IP-related services since 1996, operating under the current name since 2002. Mr. Michitaka Ohata from the Japan Patent Office (JPO) and Mr. Satoru Sadai, Ms. Nantanatnida Ingkakul and Ms. Jutaporn Kengkarnrua organize the activities of the IP Department. Through the office in downtown Bangkok, visitors can use access the IP Department library or contact our specialists for legal advice.

The IP Department routinely co-hosts support seminars with associations such as the Department of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Commerce, Japan Patent Office and Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation, etc.

The JETRO Bangkok IP Department is part of an Asian and global network of governmental organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and regional Intellectual Property Offices. Our main supporter, JETRO Bangkok, is the fifth largest JETRO office in the world, supervising all other offices in Southeast and Southwest Asia, including Cambodia and Lao PDR.
